Morgan County Leaders Endorse Peggy Mayfield

Support Builds for Business Woman, Clerk to Take On Democrat Peggy Welch

(Martinsville, IN)—Republican County Clerk Peggy Mayfield announced Wednesday that key Morgan County leaders endorse her candidacy in the District 60 State Representative Republican Primary.

“In my 30 years in law enforcement, including 8 years as County Sheriff, Peggy Mayfield has been one of the most competent elected officials that I have worked with,” said former Morgan County Sheriff Bob Garner.  Sheriff Garner pointed to the fact that Peggy Mayfield was the first Clerk to compile data and produce documentation that supported claims for the Sheriff’s Retirement Fund, which reduced the dependency on taxpayers’ money by several thousand dollars. “It is no wonder that Peggy was elected to a second term as Clerk, and I am happy to endorse her as the best candidate for State Representative.”

Mooresville Town Clerk Sandy Perry noted, “Peggy found $100,000 in additional funding that was never previously pursued and added early satellite voting in Mooresville which allowed the voters in the northern half of the county the same opportunity to vote early that had been offered in Martinsville for years.”

Former Mooresville Town Council President and current Brown Township Trustee Mark Harris remarked that Peggy has returned over $133,000 back to the county’s general fund by operating under budget every year.  “In an era of shrinking government budgets, she constantly seeks ways to offer more for less to the citizens of Morgan County.”

“I’m humbled to have the support of so many Morgan County leaders,” Mayfield said. “It is validation for all the hard work I’ve done as County Clerk and all that our family and our business have invested in the community.  I thank them for their support and their shared dedication to our community.”
